Teaching Areas

Born in Israel, soprano Efrat Ben-Nun graduated from the Buchmann - Mehta School of Music, Tel-Aviv, where she studied with Prof. Rachum.  Ms. Ben-Nun continued graduate studies at the Manhattan School of Music in New York with Marlena Malas.  While still in Israel she was the winner of the Buchmann - Mehta School of Music singing competition as well as a winner of the American Israel Cultural Foundation vocal scholarship, 1988-89.  
 
Ms. Ben-Nun has performed as a guest soloist with leading orchestras in Israel and Europe under major conductors including: Daniel Baremboim, Zubin Mehta, Renee Jocobs, Michel Corboz, Simone Young, Sebastion Weigle, Alessandro de Marchi, Asher Fisch and others.  Ms. Ben-Nun performed leading roles as a fixed soloist in both Aalto Theatre Essen and the Staatsoper Unter den Linden Berlin.  Her roles included, Pamina, Blanchen, Julietta, Despina, Elizabetta, Dido, Aennchen among others.  She has also performed as a soloist with the New Israeli Opera.  Ms. Ben-Nun was a guest soloist in major festivals such as the Innsbruck Festival of Early Music, the Karlsruhe Handel Festival, the Schwetzingen Festival, the Michel Corboz Festival in Frieburg and the Festwochen Wien.  
 
Ms. Ben-Nun has recorded Monteverdi's  L'Orpheo, and the Bach Secular Cantatas for the Harmonia Mundi label, Renee Jacobs conducting, both recordings receiving outstanding reviews and has recorded Mozart's Requiem with Michel Corboz for Virgin Records.  
 
Since 1997 Efrat Ben-Nun has maintained a private teaching studio, taught as a voice teacher at the Israeli Opera Studio and today is teaching voice at both the Buchmann-Mehta School of Music, Tel-Aviv and the Rubin Academy of Music and Dance, Jerusalem.  
 
Many of Ms. Ben-Nun's students are competition winners and performing successfully on international stages.
